Tally integration
Connect TallyPrime through a small Windows connector: see ledgers, parties, stock and vouchers in the panel, keep a synced copy, download CSV and make changes in Tally without opening it.

What you need first
- The Tally integration module on your plan.
- A Windows PC with TallyPrime running, its HTTP server on, and your company open.
- Permission to manage Tally connectors to download and pair — the workspace owner has it.
On this page
What it does#
A small Windows program, TallyConnector.exe, runs on the PC where TallyPrime is open. It calls out to the panel, picks up requests and passes them to TallyPrime on that PC. Open it from Tally at the bottom of the menu, under Integrations (or Integrations → More integrations → Tally → Set up). The page has three tabs: Connection, Data and Sync.
- Nothing on your PC is opened to the internet, and no firewall change is needed.
- Tally data is for your team only. It is never used by the agents your customers talk to.
- Changes are built from the form's fields and saved only when Tally confirms that exactly one record changed.
Depends on your plan: Tally is a module of your plan. Without it, Tally shows a lock in the menu and the page explains how to add it. Compare plans.
Requirements#
- Windows. The connector does not run on Mac or Linux.
- TallyPrime with its HTTP server on: F1 (Help) → Settings → Advanced Configuration, let TallyPrime act as a server, port
9000. - The company you want to work with open in TallyPrime. The connector and TallyPrime must both be running whenever you want live data, changes or a sync.
Download the connector#
Step 1: Open Tally → Connection
Under 1. Download the connector, press Download TallyConnector.exe. Its size and SHA-256 are shown next to it.
Step 2: Check the file (optional)
On the PC,
certutil -hashfile TallyConnector.exe SHA256should print the same SHA-256 as the page.Step 3: Run it on the Tally PC
By default it starts again when you sign in to Windows, and reconnects while the pairing is valid.
Pair the PC#
Step 1: Make a pairing code
Under 2. Pair the PC, give it a name in Name this PC if you like (for example Accounts PC), set Pairing stays valid for (1 to 365 days, 30 by default) and press Generate pairing code.
Step 2: Copy the setup
Press Copy setup. The page also shows the website and the code separately, with a countdown: a code works once and only for 10 minutes, and is never shown again.
Step 3: Paste it into the connector
In TallyConnector, check the Tally port, paste into Pairing code — the website address fills in by itself — and press Connect.
Step 4: Wait for the page
Keep the page open: it notices the PC within a few seconds and says it is connected. Press See your data.
Good to know: When the validity runs out the PC shows Expired. Open its ⋯ menu and choose Pair again: its default company, settings and synced data stay.
Your Tally PCs#
3. Your Tally PCs lists each paired PC as Online, Offline, Expired or Waiting to pair, with when it was last seen, its Tally port and how long the pairing lasts, and the Companies open in TallyPrime.
- Default company — the company used for data, changes and sync unless you pick another. Only companies the PC reported can be chosen.
- Check connection — asks TallyPrime which companies are open now. Use it after opening another company.
- ⋯ → Rename — the name only your team sees.
- ⋯ → Revoke — the connector on that PC stops working at once; nothing in Tally changes. Tick Also delete this PC's synced data to remove the ledgers, stock and vouchers copied from it; otherwise they stay readable.
See your data#
On Data, choose Ledgers, Parties, Stock items, Stock groups, Stock summary, Vouchers, Sales, Purchases or Day book, then the Company. Voucher views also take From and To dates. Search looks in names, groups and GSTIN, or in voucher numbers, types, parties and narration.
- Cached
- The copy kept by the last sync. It answers at once, even with the PC off, and says when it was synced. It holds vouchers for the current financial year.
- Live from Tally
- Asked from TallyPrime now, for any period. It needs the PC online and can take up to 40 seconds; Cancel stops waiting.
Ledger and party balances show Dr or Cr. Download CSV saves the rows that match the current filters — every page, not just the one on screen.
Make changes in Tally#
Tip: Back up your Tally company before editing important accounts. Changes made here are written into Tally itself and cannot be undone from the panel.
With the PC online, New ledger (or party, stock item, stock group, voucher) adds a record, and each row's ⋯ menu has Edit and Delete. Each needs its own permission on your role.
Step 1: Ledgers, parties and stock
- Ledgers and parties: Name, Group and an Opening balance with Dr or Cr. Parties go under Sundry Debtors (customers) or Sundry Creditors (suppliers).
- Stock groups: Name and the group it is Under (Primary for the top level).
- Stock items: Name, stock group, Unit, and on a new item an opening Quantity and Rate.
Step 2: Vouchers
- Date, Voucher type as named in Tally, Voucher number (left blank, Tally numbers it) and Narration.
- Party — optional: the customer or supplier, its side, the amount, and a Bill reference with its Bill type to track the bill.
- Ledger lines — each line has a Dr or a Cr amount. The totals and the difference run underneath; the voucher saves only when it says Balanced.
- Stock lines — on Sales and Purchase vouchers only: item, quantity, unit, rate and the sales or purchase ledger, with an optional godown and batch.
Tip: Editing a voucher changes its date, type, number and narration. Tick Replace the voucher's ledger and stock lines to change the amounts too; when the last sync stored the lines, the form starts from them.
Step 3: Save
Press Save to Tally. It can take up to two minutes; keep the window open. Live data shows the change at once; the cached copy shows it after the next sync.
Good to know: If Tally does not answer in time, the change may still have been made. Check the record in Tally first — Check what happened shows whether the PC ran it — and tick I checked Tally and the change is not there before Save again, so nothing is entered twice.
Delete removes the record from Tally itself. Tally refuses to delete a ledger or item that vouchers still use, and a voucher without a number has to be deleted in Tally.
Sync#
A sync copies ledgers, stock and the current financial year's vouchers into the panel; nothing in Tally changes. It runs by itself while the PC is online — every hour unless you change it.
- Sync now starts one at once for the default company, or the Company you choose. It runs in the background.
- Automatic sync switches the schedule on or off for a PC and sets how often, from every 15 minutes to every 24 hours.
- Recent syncs lists each run: when it started, the company, whether it was manual or automatic, the result (Done, Partly done or Failed), how many records came across and how long it took. Problems shows what went wrong.
Common questions#
Why is Live from Tally greyed out?
The PC is offline. Open TallyConnector on that PC and press Connect, and keep TallyPrime running with the company open. Cached still works meanwhile.
My company is not in the list.
Open it in TallyPrime, then press Check connection on Connection.
The pairing code expired.
Codes last 10 minutes. Press Make a new code and paste the new setup into the connector.
I changed something in Tally and the cached data does not show it.
The cached copy is as of the last sync. Press Sync now on Sync, or switch to Live from Tally.
